At the highest point in Brooklyn and on a quiet tree lined, one-way street sits a very special townhouse, the likes of which is rarely available. North west windows, decks and balcony include views to the Statue of Liberty and overlook beautiful neighborhood gardens. On the opposite side of the property, floor to ceiling windows capture the tranquil Greenwood cemetery. A planted roof top offers stunning 360-degree vistas including the entire Manhattan skyline and the fenced, landscaped 50 ft deep garden is a private oasis. To some, the most important exterior asset might be the coveted curb cut and garage on which a mural of the famed artist (and Greenwood neighbor), Basquiat graces the door.Read More
Many of us have skiing on the mind this time of year. At the Berman Buckskin Ranch, only 13 miles from Telluride, you can find yourself on a pristine slope within minutes. Or in your own Equestrian Barn…or in your own fishing hole…..or on your own shooting range. The property also includes a main home, guest house barn, garage, livestock barn, shed, shop, stable located on 1500 acres of pristine mountain country.Read More
Last week, I previewed a number of high end properties near downtown Greenwich. Many of my clients are considering the area for waterfront access, proximity to NYC (45min) and perhaps most important, low taxes. We visited some fantastic listings (by land and boat!) and this waterfront property really captured my imagination.Read More
With the second round of the NBA Payoffs in full swing, this edition of House of the Week highlights a Hamptons property with some serious league history. The New York Times reports that the house for sale at 189 Further Lane in East Hampton was the secret location Kevin Durant held negotiations with prospective teams after becoming a free agent in 2016. The rental for the week was a cool $100k.

I previewed 44 Monroe this week for a client and am still smiling thinking about it. The renovation tastefully blended industrial pre war elements and modern finishes with concrete and iron meshing seamlessly with hardwood floors, brick walls and wooden beams. I especially appreciated the spa like master suite and abundance of oversized windows and skylights throughout. The renovation was thoughtful with tasteful design decisions made well throughout. Have a look and let me know what you think!=.Read More
On the eve of last week's nor'easter, my wife and I decided to skip the storm in the city and escape to the Catskills for a day of skiing/boarding at a local mountain. We reached out to our friends, Doug Jaeger and Kristin Sloan, to see if their cabin was available and what was planned as a quick get away turned out to be a refreshing mini-vacation in an idyllic setting overlooking the snow covered Kerhonkson Hills. Check out Zinc Cabin, our House of the Week.Read More
It is a pleasure for me to highlight not only a beautiful property, but a friend who has restored a classic while "bringing his own authentic cool". This Mid Century modern house, built by modernist architecture icon Richard Neutra, has been reimagined in a way that would make the designer proud.Read More
Ever wonder about that little Cape Cod cottage on the roof of the building at 1st Ave and First Street in the East Village? Walking past it daily, I was thrilled when a couple of my colleagues, Nick Gavin and Josh Doyle got the listing. 1 Verona Place in Bed-Stuy is a next level two family home. Gut renovated by developers who moonlight as furniture designers, this landmarked property is all about attention to detail. On a recent tour, I took note of the 2 1/4 inch solid wood doors throughout that lend a solid quality. The central black lacquer staircase is a beautiful design statement. Custom rift sawn white oak hardwood floors with walnut inlays throughout remain true to the home's original design. .
If you are shopping for a townhouse and require something special, this is a must see.
Congrats to colleague Esther Patten on the listing!Read More
My favorite property of the week is a loft at 136 Baxter Street listed by Compass colleagues Nick Gavin and Josh Doyle. The building, a former police horse stable, is perfectly located at the intersection of SoHo, Nolita, Chinatown and Little Italy. And then there is those beams. And floors. And light. Curbed did nice article on the property, check it out here.Read More
